Deliberately going against the tide of the tourist offer on the Atlantic coast, les jardins d’IØde offer gardens for rent for unusual accommodations.

Les jardins d’IØde is a resolutely alternative project for accessing a second home. Designed by its owner, the comfortable plots (between 204 and 270m²) offer everything you need for a fantastic stay on the island of Oléron.

You have full ownership of your lodge. With jardins d’IØde, you rent your plot without time limit and you choose a builder of your choice but who must be in agreement with the architectural requirements of this unique place.

Fueled by his passion for gardens and architecture, Frédéric, the founder of the project, wanted to bring this old family campsite back to life; each plot is a small intimate garden, a green cocoon near the sea. His experience of plants and well-being outdoors allows him to create gardens with all kinds of plants from the 5 continents, requiring little watering while respecting nature and the site.

The plots, spacious and facing south, are available for year-round rental in an environment close to all amenities: the beach 600m away, shops, market…and the rest of the island and its natural heritage by bike .

WELCOME TO JARDINS D'IØDE !

The place and its rebirth...the 22 gardens

In the 1970s, Laurence and André, my islander and farmer grandparents, had the idea of taking advantage of the touristic boom to set up a small family campsite on one of their meadows in La Brée-les-bains to sell their production of vegetables and islander products: the story begins like this.

Ideally located a few hundred meters from the sea, this property was operated as a traditional campsite for 40 years… then, due to unfortunate experiences, gradually died out until 2021 to be nothing more than a place bearing the stigma of too dense occupation and too little respect for the environment.

In 2022, passion is reborn: impossible to let this place die or to leave it in the wrong hands. We must bring this exceptional site back to life, remove the carcasses of the mobile homes still present, eliminate thousands plastic, prune the trees bruised by bad stories to little by little bring it back to life

But we must go further for this project and its unique character: then numerous exotic plants from five continents will be installed in order to give the place a unique spirit of plant cocoon.

In this transformed site, the old plots become small cozy gardens between 204m² and 270m².
Parking areas are shared at the entrance and the access to the gardens on foot or bike.

No installation harmful to the calm of the place has been created : no swimming pool, no bar, no noisy entertainment; only a bowling alley and a few games will be installed.

Too many people forget that the garden is a also a living space …

Experience of the gaden

Always passionate about nature and exotic gardens, Frédéric, the project leader, decided to create an extraordinary space like his garden in Oléron.

It is the fruit of his experience which fuels the jardins d’IØde : cordyline australis, palm trees, banana trees, abutillon, phormium, euphorbia or salvia of all sort are all suitable plants : they do not require much water, are adapted to the island climate and create an authentic atmosphere where the garden and the unusual habitat become one.

The site will also be a place for botanical sharing ; each owner will become an actor in their garden. Plant swaps will be organized every year by Frédéric to showcase his latest finds.
